Lately, it has began to sink in just how much importance raising children really holds. What I do now – how I teach them, what I teach them, my behavior and my words, my reactions – will mold them and take effect on what they become; how they’ll function in a career, in a marriage, as a parent, as a child of God.
After all, I am ultimately raising children that belong to Jesus – He entrusted me to raise His children for His purpose. Some days, I feel as though I have no idea what I am doing. Praise God I am not expected to do this without His help, His wisdom, His patience, His kindness. Lord knows I need more patience.
Some days I question His purpose for me; shouldn’t I be doing more? More to spread His word, His love, His grace? Again and again, though, I am reminded – parenting is my purpose. Why do I ever doubt that raising His children is extremely significant? Of course it is! This job, my job as a mother, is my dream job, and for that I am thankful.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
