From The Weekend

I’ve been searching for just the right piece of furniture for some extra storage in our home. Last week this mid century inspired media stand arrived from Target and I quickly assembled it. It was too short, though, and something just didn’t feel right. It might be my tendency to be a wood snob and prefer a solid wood piece of furniture over one built from particleboard.

By the end of the week, I came across the most beautiful mid century bedroom set on Craigslist. It was a listed for a steal so I quickly offered more than they were asking and was able to pick it up the next day (that is, my husband and father picked it up while I watched and stood by the children). Apparently, I was first in line (which is shocking, because these things don’t stick around for long) and didn’t need to offer more than asking price, but in the end it was worth it.

I only really purchased it for the long dresser but it was a package deal that came with a nightstand and chest. The chest is a pretty piece of furniture but I’ll need to find room for it if we decide to keep it.

This week I’m determined to manage the ever growing clutter in our house. It doesn’t help that my kitchen supplies are packed in boxes and our bedroom is a dumping ground for anything that doesn’t have a place (which is mostly everything). The extra storage from the dresser will help with that, thankfully.

On an ending note, I’ll be full term on Sunday and am most eager to get everything in working order (and to set up the cradle!), especially before the baby arrives.
