Today is little Isabelle’s birthday! I can hardly grasp that she was born one year ago today. We celebrated with her first cupcake yesterday, while my mom and step father were still in town. She didn’t hesitate face planting it into her cupcake immediately after receiving it, and a couple of minutes later she had a permanent grin on her face. She started seriously eating less than a month ago and now she eats like we starve her. As if I never feed her actual food, she stuffs dirt, shells, sand, rocks, and Eliana’s crumbs into her mouth. In fact, I just pulled one out of her mouth right now. Don’t worry, she eats real food and is getting pretty good at it. We love baby led weaning since you will never find me in the kitchen pureeing homemade baby food, but scrambled eggs and a banana? You can count on that.
I used this recipe from The Curvy Carrot for the cupcakes and they were a hit. I made the little flags to top them out of washi tape and toothpicks. The party hats were made from Oh Happy Day’s template and homemade pom-poms, I’ve been making them like a mad woman.
I usually wouldn’t do very much for a first birthday but this time I went for it. Isabelle enjoyed it and we’ll also be doing family singing today. Happy birthday my little sweetheart, you are such a blessing and so so loved!
