Cabinet Hardware, Perfectionism, and Half-Year Diets

Our cabinet hardware from Forge Hardware Studio arrived over a week ago and I’ve finally started working on installing them. It took me so long to begin working on the hardware because of my perfectionist tendencies. Every time I thought about starting I would worry about not getting them just right then become paralyzed from that anxiety and postpone until another day. Of course it ended up being super straight forward, especially with the help of a jig our neighbor lent us. I still need to tackle the knobs for the cabinet doors, once I figure out the perfect placement for them (there’s just so many options!).

Speaking of perfectionism, I made these cookie bars last week and Ashley’s words on perfectionism really hit home, you’ll have to check them out for yourself, I promise it’s worth it. The cookie bars were one of the best I’ve tasted as well.

Just as I was eating said cookie bars and thumbing though Magnolia Table, I received word from my midwife that I ought to go on an anti-inflammatory diet for 3-6 months for the sake of my thyroid hormones. So, no more cookie bars for me. I’m on day five of my second Whole 30 and it’s a lot easier the second time around. My favorite go-to lunch is currently this Chicken Shawarma and Sweet Potato Fry Bowls. I make it without the couscous and use this tahini dressing (omit the honey) instead of her greek yogurt version. The pickled onions are a must with this dish.

Whole 30 has a way of making me so darn tired and Dennis has been waking up one to two times a night broken out of his swaddle blanket cooing to be nursed. Although it is the sweetest coo, I won’t give up easily on a solid night sleep. We tried the Merlin Magic Sleepsuit and so far he is not a fan – the boy just loves to be swaddled. I’ll keep trying, of course, and hope he eventually takes to it.

Enjoy your weekend!
